Signalment: 8y 3m M/N Pitbull Terrier 30kg
Presentation: Presented with the oncology department on 4/11/19 for a second opinion of a suspected bone lesion on the left hind limb. Probable osteosarcoma.
History: LHL lateral suture repair performed on 9/28/18, surgical revision on 3/26/19 due to implant failure.
Clinical signs: swelling of the left pelvic limb (LPL), progressive lameness, pitting edema and severe pain.
Staging: LPL radiographs, CBC/blood chemistry, three-view chest radiographs, and abdominal ultrasound.
Surgery: LPL amputation performed 4/12/19 and a diagnosis of primary bone hemangiosarcoma was made.
Medical management:
- Completed doxorubicin protocol (5 doses)
- Metronomic chlorambucil
- Metacam
- Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine
- Medicinal Mushrooms
- Cannabis product
Treatment Goals: Decrease metastatic potential and aid in arthritis support
Starting cannabis formulation (custom right:ratio): 5/15/19 administered every 12h, titrated every 3 days.
Update: As of 2/7/21, no signs of disease, all staging clean, pet continues to thrive at home.
