Signalment: 13y 5m M/N Beagle 17kg
Presentation: Lethargy, inappetence, PU/PD, distended abdomen
History: Vascular hepatic mass, underlying Cushing’s disease
Staging: Bloodwork, abdominal ultrasound, chest and abdominal radiographs
Medical management:
- Apoquel, specialized allergy serum
- Thyroid tabs
- Denamarin liver supplement
- Yunnan Baiyao, Concentrated Wind Toxin (Chinese herb for itchy skin)
- Mushroom blend supplement.
Surgery: Unknown
Treatment Goals: Improve immunity, function and overall wellness. Decrease the potential of further metastatic disease.
Starting cannabis formulation (custom right:ratio): 5/8/19 administered every 12h, titrated every 7 days.
Update: As of 2/1/21, patient continues to thrive. Periodic episodes of decreased appetite noted intermittently but overall positive response to tincture. Dosage decreases resolved adverse effects as needed. Patient displayed improved sleep and a decreased need for medical appetite supplementation on a day-by-day basis.
