Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is CBD?

CBD is short for the molecule cannabidiol, a non-intoxicating component of the cannabis plant with significant medical potential. Cannabis is the genus of a flowering plant that has three different species that have been recognized including Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica and Cannabis ruderalis.

CBD is one of over 400 chemical compounds that exist in cannabis, and one of over 60 cannabinoid compounds.  These compounds act on cannabinoid receiptors in cells in your pet’s endocannabinoid system.  Each of these cannabinoids has health benefits and each interacts differently with other cannabinoid compounds in what has been widely recognized by cannabinoid experts as the “Entourage Effect.”

What are the key cannabinoids contained in Right:Ratio?

Each formula is made to precisely combine CBD, CBDa, THC and CBG, as well as trace cannabinoids found in hemp. Under the 2018 Farm Bill, “hemp” means the plant species Cannabis sativa L. with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent dry weight. Right:Ratio combines these molecules in specific potencies and ratios to each other to target your pet’s needs.

A:1 includes CBDA to reduce joint stiffness. As early as a 2008 study, it was identified as having significant anti-inflammatory properties.

A:1 also contains CBG, which refers to the molecule cannabigerol. CBG is recognized to have anti-inflammatory properties and a 2021 study provided evidence that CBD and CBG formulated appropriately exhibit anti-inflammatory activity.

Will my pet get high?

Right:Ratio products are carefully designed to prevent your pet from experiencing the psychoactive effect of THC by simply following our specific and rigorously tested dosing instructions.

Unlike many companies, we firmly believe that without THC (<0.3%), the medical effectiveness of CBD and other cannabinoids is greatly reduced and pets do not get the full potential of cannabis’ wellness power.  Researchers have described the importance of the interaction between cannabinoids as the “entourage effect,” which means that CBD and other cannabinoids interact in complementary ways. CBD and THC interact synergistically to potentiate each other’s curative qualities.

CBD enhances THC’s properties while lessening its psychoactivity.  These two molecules have been described as “the power couple” of cannabis therapeutics for humans and should also be used for pets in the right ratios and potencies.

How many times is Right:Ratio tested?

Right:Ratio is founded on safety and efficacy and all of our products are tested in the NASC approved facility where they are made.  Specifically, we require that each cannabinoid input (CBD, CBDa, THC, CBG and THCa) and terpene separatedly pass all requirements for human consumption as verified by third-party testing from the supplier.

In addition, we retest each combined product/batch to California cannabis legal requirements for human cannabinoid use, including third party ISO accredited testing by an independent third-party laboratory Infinite Chemical Analysis Labs. Full panel testing includes cannabinoid and terpene potencies, residual solvents and processing chemicals, heavy metals, microbial impurities, mycotoxins and pesticides

Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for each product demonstrating that it has passed human testing requirements in California can be found below.
